Reduplication, the exact or partial repetition of a word, is a common linguistic feature in most languages including English. Examples include tip-top, okey-dokey, and mishmash. English is replete with such expressions containing repetition of sounds. However, repetition of a word is rare. On the contrary, in many Indian languages like Hindi, repetition of a word is a common feature. Therefore, Indian learners and users of English often translate such expressions and use a word twice, which, sometimes sounds awkward to efficient users of English.
